My mom has been taking me on trips to Boston again, because another of the parrots needed to visit the doctor's there. It's very unfair as I never get to go on the exam table and I do so want to! But anyway. It all started back in November when mom noticed a lump on Willow's foot! She was quickly taken to the local vet for diagnosis. The vet took radiographs to see if there was bony involvement, and also sent a sample out to check what it was. It seemed to be a stubborn infection but sadly did not improve with treatment by antibiotics alone. Then, we went on the trips to Boston. There, they did surgery to remove it and found it to be a stubborn abscess! It was lanced and drained and new and different antibiotics were given. Willow is now one week post surgery and doing well, thanks to the wonderful care of Dr. Michelle at Greylock Animal Hospital and Dr. Graham at Angell Animal Medical Center!

Willow and Aspen hanging out.
My mom says, "so cute!"
Mom was impressed with Willow's abilit yto stand on her left (bandaged) foot and eat with her right. Normally she always eats with her left hand and stands on her right.
She removed most of the bandage by herself!
As you can see.
And, bandage was removed the rest of the way and her foot is healing well!
Yay!
Preening parrots.
Site is healing well!
Another view.
Well, that's all for now! I'll be back soon with more tails . . . er . . . tales!
