We had a visit from Santa Paws! There were presents for all us doggies, plus the kitties and the birdies too! Here's a video of our doggie Christmas!

If you can't tell, we had a GREAT time! I was the best present opener, of course! I even had to help my little brother!

We *also* got a doggie puzzle! It was really fun to play and get the treats out. Plus a dog bed and a giant stuffie, too. Such fun!

And on Christmas Eve, mom took me, Dally, and Elliot Cool scootering to a new place...we go hiking there all the time but we've never scootered there before. Mom also hooked us up a different way. Instead of just me and Dally, she had me in the front and Dally and Elliot Cool behind me. We had a GREAT time but mom sure was carrying on back there! She was whining a little about being sore today, I don't see why, we did all the running! What do you think?

Champions!

Me 'n my sister are Champions! My mom took us (and my pesky little brother) on a trip last weekend...we drove for a long time to Lums Pond State Park in Delaware, and then the next morning to Fair Hill Natural Resource Management Area in Elkton, Maryland, and we got to go Scootering with momma. There were lots and lots of husky dogs there making all sorts of crazy noises!

Me and Dally were just really happy to run really fast, so we did!! And we brought mom in faster than any of the other doggies in our class!! We were in the 2-dog Scooter Sportsman class.

Here's a movie of the WHOLE thing! Mom video'd it on her helmet cam! This movie is about a half hour long so you'll want to make sure you have time to watch it...and it really looks best full screen!

Well, I told you all about my dog scootering lesson in October but since then I've been having lots of fun with it!! Plus my little brother and my sisters went to a Rally trial (WITHOUT ME!) and they did awesome!

Dog Scootering! and Elliot meets his Uncle Edge, and play progress!

Mom kept telling me all week that we were going to do something *REALLY FUN* this weekend. I was totally excited to see what she had planned! So on Saturday morning we got up early and went for a long drive. I got to be the co-pilot and Dally and Elliot had to stay in the cage in the back. HA!

We went all the way to Lake Elmore, VT to Peace Pups Dogsledding! Ken took us to a little trail and first he talked to my mom awhile (*boring*) and then Mom wheeled around on these funny looking bikes without pedals for a bit. THEN, she finally let me come out of the car! I tried on a couple fancy blue harnesses and they decided one fit me and said we were ready to GO! Mom got behind me on the funny bike, I gave her a look - "What are you doing on that weird thing, mom?!" She said, "OK! Go ArthurGOOD! RUN!"

Well, she didn't have to tell me twice!!! I took off down the road! I looked back and she was after me on that scooter, but I was in the lead. Wheeeeeeeeeeee! I ran super fast! Mom said she even got scared! Then she said "Whoa! Wait!" so I stopped. We rested a bit and then we were off again! I woulda gone forever but then she made me turn around. I didn't really want to turn around but I did. Then Ken took the camera and video'd us on the way back - here it is!

Then today, mom took me out again! We just went a little while and she kept calling out funny words I did not know. I think she's trying to tell me where to go or something. She said I was super and she was going to hook up my sister Dally! What?! I didn't know about that. But she did hook her up, and then GrandPaw went out on his bike ahead of us for a little while. When we got to the end of the road we passed him and kept on going, and he stayed and talked to the people in the house, and kept the 2 big GSDs from chasing us (Dally was really glad about that!)

We FLEW done the trail up and over the RR tracks. We stopped there for a little break. Then we raced to the end of the field, went swimming! Went all the way around the field, went swimming again, and then raced around a bit more and then back down the trail, one more swim and headed home. SO MUCH FUN! Here's the video from today!!

Mom says when Elliot Cool is bigger he can get hooked up too! She will prolly let Caper and Lacy go together too - she thinks I'm too fast for Caper! HA!

Oh yeah, speaking of Elliot Cool he got to meet his Uncle Edge yesterday, too!

Elliot's mum has the same parents as Edge! Edge is 1.5 weeks older but Elliot is slightly bigger. Edge's hair is a little longer and softer than Elliot's. That's Edge's human mum, Ashley, with him. She has border collies too! My scooter lesson made mom late meeting them but luckily Ashley came back and so they still got to meet! Mom thought that was really nice. And of course, the wonderful Show Me The Biscuit was awesome for letting them use their place!

So, all in all a SUPER FUN weekend! Hope yours was just as good!

What a week it has been! Elliot Cool (that's my new brother's name - mom *finally* decided!) probably had the biggest week of all. Here is a video of all that he experienced:

Me and Caper were actually IN that agility trial he went to and we got some prizes!

Dally was there too, but she didn't play 'gility she just played in the pond and yard!

It was lots of fun but then when I got home on Sunday night I realized I was really, really, really, really, SORE! I couldn't use my right front leg at all! And every time I shifted my weight it HURT and I cried out. My mama was really worried about me. She gave me medicine but it didn't help so the next morning she took me to the emergency hospital! They took pictures of my bones! They said none of them were broken so that was good, I guess. But they said I had a "soft tissue injury." I don't really know about that - it sure didn't feel soft to me! They gave my mom more medicines for me to take and told her I had to stay in prison until I was better. I sure didn't like that but I felt pretty lousy and it did keep my pesky little brother from bouncing on me so I guess I was ok with it. (Mom can't make the disc the doctors gave her work, so you can't see the photos of my bones!)
Well, I finally got more freedom by the end of the week and while mom still won't play with me I am now allowed to run around on my own, so I took advantage of that this morning while mom hung out with us all in the yard. We all had lots of fun, I think. Well, maybe not those feral foster dogs (yup, they are both still here, . Hopefully one of them leaves soon, though, they are annoying! I always have to keep them in line.

BIG NEWS!

Well now, you read that right! I do have some BIG NEWS! About 22 pounds worth!!! And I don't mean that British money kinda pounds, either.

What's that, you ask? Well, I am taking about the flesh and blood and bones and fur kind of BIG NEWS.

Yup!! It's true!

HAVE.

NEW.

LITTLE.

BABY.

BROTHER.

Whoa!!! Can you even believe it?! Well, it's true. And, like the Mr. GOOD! I am I am going to teach him all the tricks of the trade when it comes to being the brother. I'll teach him to bite noses, steal toys, pounce the cats, and sleep on the bed. I am ready!

The best part of my little brother is that he is not a border collie. Mom knows I wasn't going to stand no whipper snapper charging in here and trying to be the bestest boy border collie ever over me, no way, no how! So, my little brother can be the bestest boy Coolie in the world. I'll keep the Border Collie title, thank-you-very-much!

Yes, that's right, I said Coolie. No, I didn't mean to say Collie, I really meant Coolie. (I am a border collie, I can spell, you know!)

What the heck's a Coolie, you ask?

Well, perhaps you may remember my foster sister, Easter Bonnet, from about a year and a half ago? She was a funny multi-colored dog, and a real good playmate to my little sister Dally when she was still tiny, like this:

Well, mom's friend from Australia pointed out to mom that she thought Bonnie looked like a German Coolie! Mom hadn't heard of them so she went searching to see what she could find out. All the info she found she thought was pretty neat, but she was busy with baby Dally so she didn't do much with it except tell Bonnie's adopter's that she could be a German Coolie.

Fast forward to this summer and my Disc Dog seminars! Mom went on FB looking for different disc dog events and somehow stumbled upon a FB group for Australian Koolies (similar to German Coolies.) Someone had posted a photo of a cute pup on there and mom followed that back and found out he and his brother were both still looking for homes. She couldn't believe no one had wanted that little pup because in ever picture, she said, he was staring right at her (I think the reason she liked that so much is because that's what *I* do to her in *my* pictures!)

So, mom was still not biting, but then she got a message from the pup's human mum and after she read the message she said it was just something she couldn't say no too...and SO, that BIG NEWS little pup got put on a plane this morning and went for a very long and noisy plane ride....to US!

He was 'sposed to get to the airport at 9pm but instead he didn't get there until almost 11pm! We finally got home and it's already tomorrow and in just a few hours it'll be time for my and Caper's AGILITY TRIAL!

Disc Dog Seminar Video and pics!!

Here I am having lots of fun at the disc dog seminar! Uncle Marty helped my mom lots on her throwing but as you can see she is not always perfect. He also told my mom to keep working with my DROP (I WANT it!!) and the circling around her so she has time to throw better for me. Mom says we are not perfect but things are beginning to come together! Now we know what to work on, she says...so that is good!

Here are some pics of the other attendees that mom took. There was another border collie (blue merle) not in these pics because mom video'd him since his mom video'd us...she hasn't gotten a chance to get pics off his video's yet but she will. They were quite good, and he was just a youngster!:

So far behind!!

WOOF! Hello friends. My mom says I am seriously far behind in updating my blog, and I agree! So much has happened that you haven't been able to enjoy!

Let's see...we had lots of foster siblings come and go...right now there are two REALLY scaredy dogs here. Mom says one of them is supposed to go to another foster home but so far no one wants him. Unfortunately one of the fosters *Charlotte* pushed mom's good camera into the sick into a mug of water and ruined it, so she only has her Droid for pics now. It's not quite as good as the real camera for taking pics and that makes mom a bit sad.

My sister Caper and I have done some agility trials this summer! Those have been fun! My sister Dally and I did another Rally trial, that was really fun too and I earned my RL1X - which stands for Rally Level 1 Championship! Plus I am only one QQ away from my ARCH! That stands for APDT Rally Champion! Dally won some fancy ribbons too.

Let's see what else....oh, last week I went to a Disc Dog seminar with mom...she really needs some work on her throwing so it was a really important seminar for me to take her to. We go for part two tomorrow! Woof! That will be fun!

We've also had lots of visitors this summer. Dally even *played* with Levi the overgrown smooth coated border collie pup who stayed here for awhile while his family was in Ireland...(they didn't even bring me back any sheep!)

When Rally Goes Wrong! and Right!

My mom says I was taken over by an alien being this weekend at the APDT Wag It Rally Trial! She wanted to write this post instead of me, so this time, so I'm gonna let her. I'll bark at ya another time!

From my mom:
What a weekend! We started with a pretty normal Level 1 run. Scored a very respectable 206! And then came Level 2. It started out as a lovely run. Something went wrong at the Fast Forward from Sit, and things went downhill from there. I had no idea what was going on with my perfect boy! I just kept going...LOL! At least he appears to be having a good time...I think he was frustrated with the fact that it wasn't more exciting. I had tried walking at a faster pace than normal thinking he would like that better. He seemed to, but then the Fast Forward from Sit seemed to tip him over the edge.

By the end of the weekend he managed to pull himself together enough to get a Level 2 Q, although he lost it right at the end, again, not helped by the Fast Forward from Sit.

He did better in his Level 3 runs, the Jump was there for him to concentrate on, helping quite a bit, though it did not stop him from trying to destroy one of the signs on one run - but that was his only major transgression. What a crazy man! Level 1's also went better - although he did grab a cone on one of those too! Overall, ArthurGOOD! and I just weren't connected like we had been a few weeks ago at the Monadnock trial - at that trial we had the nices t runs of our Rally career, and were more connected than we had ever been. I think ArthurGOOD! just didn't want me taking him for granted.

One the other hand, there was his "Little Sis" DahliaRIGHT! She finished her Puppy Championship with 3 lovely Level Puppy runs, and then earned her very first Level 1 Q with this nice run:

And if that wasn't enough, her score earned her the High Scoring Rescue/Shelter Dog of the weekend!! What an honor! And she got to beat him big brother ... he had won the honor at his very first Rally trial last October, so perhaps he was trying to share the glory... ;--)

Thanks to all the wonderful judges and fellow competitors who helped me laugh at my silly boy this weekend! The courses were super fun and challenging!

Not quite how my day was supposed to go!

My mom was shoveling and throwing my toy, and my Grandpaw and Aunties Sparkle and Firefox were over playing as well, along with my brother and sisters and foster sister. We were having fun racing and fetching, when suddenly my Auntie Sparkle nipped me in the side! At first mom didn't realize what had happened, but she knew I had hurt my leg or something so she checked me over outside and then we went in to rest. When we woke up from our little nap, mom found a bloody spot on the bed where I had laid. So, she looked at me and she discovered a *WOUND*!

So, she called her friend, the wonderful Dr. Whitney who she used to work with but who now works at the Emergency Clinic in Latham. She told us to come to her house and she would take a look. When we got there, it was kind of scary because she had two little aliens in her house. Mom says they were a toddler and a baby but I know they were aliens. She had them stay a little far away from me so I was able to be brave. Mom laid me down on her lap and told me to be still, and Dr. Whitney made a funny buzzing thing take away some of my fur. They she put betadine on my wound. She told mom she might get away with just stapling it but it would probably be better if it could have proper stitches on the inside first.

So, since it was a snowstorm and the roads weren't good to drive too far, we called our friend Dr. Schug in Schuylerville. They told us to head over so we did. When we got there I had to wait in the waiting room for just a little bit. There was another dog there but I was very brave and sat by mom and only made a face when that dog tried to come over close to me. I just lifted my lips a tiny bit and the other dogs parents took her a little further away.

Then, we went into a room and I got weighed. I weighed 44.4 pounds. The Doctor held my leg and gave me medicine and I fell asleep. Mom carried me into the next room and the Doctor took care of my wound. Then I woke up but I am actually still really groggy.

Here we are at the vet hospital. This is after we visited Whitney. Here Dr. Schug has cleaned the area some more and she is injecting some local anesthetic as well.

Here she is flushing the area again.

Next, she had to snip some of the skin all around the wound so that it could heal properly. Part of the skin was dying already so it needed to be removed.

That made it open up a bit more and look more icky, and some blood and serum leaked out.

She again flushed the wound thoroughly to get all the little hairs out of the wound.

Here it is after the internal sutures were placed.

This is me on the table.

Here is the wound after the staples were placed. At the top left, you can see a scratch, where Sparkle's other tooth scratched me. That part is kinda swollen, but it has been cleaned and I am going to be taking antibiotics so I don't get any infections.

Here I am after walking from the procedure room to the reception area. I was waiting to go home while mom took care of the bill.

I was still pretty tired, here I am at my Grandpaw's house when I got home.

Here is the culprit, she has been apprehended and was behind bars (well, gates) while I was visiting with Grandpaw.

Here I am at home on mom's bed. I should feel better once the medicine wears off.
Well, that is my day. I thought I might get to play while my mom went snow shoeing but instead this happened. THANK YOU TO THE WONDERFUL Doctors who helped me. Dr. Whitney was very calming or me and mom and Dr. Schug did a terrific job of fixing me up just as good as new!!:-/ WOOF!ArthurOUCH!

Hi Everyone,
My mom has been taking me on trips to Boston again, because another of the parrots needed to visit the doctor's there. It's very unfair as I never get to go on the exam table and I do so want to! But anyway. It all started back in November when mom noticed a lump on Willow's foot! She was quickly taken to the local vet for diagnosis. The vet took radiographs to see if there was bony involvement, and also sent a sample out to check what it was. It seemed to be a stubborn infection but sadly did not improve with treatment by antibiotics alone. Then, we went on the trips to Boston. There, they did surgery to remove it and found it to be a stubborn abscess! It was lanced and drained and new and different antibiotics were given. Willow is now one week post surgery and doing well, thanks to the wonderful care of Dr. Michelle at Greylock Animal Hospital and Dr. Graham at Angell Animal Medical Center!

Rally Updates!

I didn't get a chance to tell you all about Dahlia and I's December Rally Trial at Monadnock Humane Society! We had lots of fun! I GOT TO DO LEVEL 2 AND THERE IS A JUMP IN THAT LEVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now mom and I have been learning more Rally stuff and one of the Bonus exercises for Level 3 is the Retrieve! Here's a video of me working on that!

Finally, photos from our FL vacation!

For Thanksgiving week, my mom, my sister Dahlia, my Grand-paw, my Aunties Sparkle and Firefox, and ME, ArthurGOOD! all took a very long drive to Florida! We camped at the Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey, FL.

Me and mom and Dally stayed in mom's little teardrop camper!

and Grand-paw, Sparkle, and Firefox had a tent. While we were on vacation we did all sorts of fun things! We hiked, we kayaked, and we played in the ocean! So,I'll show you some photos of each!

Kayaking:

We always wore our life coats and were very well behaved in the kayak!

Dahlia had the look out position!

Grand-Paw walked along the nature trail with Sparkle and Firefox and took some photos of mom and Dahlia and I in the boat.

Sometimes I stood up on the side and leaned over my mom and licked her face, to let her know I was having fun and was glad she brought me along!

We saw lots of interesting birds and things from the kayak. We can't swim in the river here because of alligators, and we have to sit quietly. So we like to go kayaking after a hike or a visit to the beach, when we are ready to rest anyway.

Hiking:
Here we all are posing on a bench partway through the 5 mile hike. In case you don't know, from left to right we are: Firefox, Sparkle, Dahlia, and me, ArthurGOOD! Firefox's eyes look weird because she is almost 100% blind ans it makes them reflect like that.

What a weekend!

This weekend my mom took me and my sister on a really, really, really, really long car ride! Then I stayed in the car for a few hours while my sis got to try something called WAG IT GAMES. Mom says they are really cool - you can see more here: http://wagitgames.com/ Dally learned to put her front feet on a skateboard and push it forward!

Then we went away and mom and I took a hike all by ourselves! That was lovely and I ran and played frisbee and everything.

The next morning, mom took us back to the same place Dally got to play the day before. I was really excited because there were lots of cars and dogs and I just **KNEW** we must be at an agility trial!!!!! Momkept telling me that wasn't true but I didn't believe her.

FINALLY it was my turn to go in the ring and I was SOOOOOOO excited!!! THEN . . . I looked around . . . and . . . I didn't see ANY agility equipment!!!!!!! I was starting to get a little frantic . . . there HAD to be SOMETHING fun in there . . . I saw something and I grabbed for it! But mom told me to leave it! It was a number, she said. She kept having me walk beside her and do those crazy moves. I was still pretty frantic so I was adding my own in there too . . . some extra spins . . . an automatic down instead of a sit . . . what were we DOING???

Mom kept talking to me and she gave me a treat or two . . . then I started to realize this was like when we are at home with the signs in the yard . . . we were playing THAT game!!!! Now I got it!

After that mom said I was such a super, super boy! Then I rested in the car for a little while. Mom took Dally out and she had a turn in the building . . . mom said she did super in her puppy class!

Later, it was my turn again. This time I KNEW what was going on!!! I was super dog and listened and concentrated real hard. I got a huge round of applause at the end!! Later mom told me I was PERFECT! I already knew that!

We went back to the place where we hiked again after Dally had another turn (she was good again too!) This time, when we got there mom left me in the car while she brought Dally to see SHEEPS!!!!! I got back at mom though by eating a huge bag of puperoni. Mom says she doesn't usually get those for us but they were easy in the pockets. They were yummy! Then, *I* got to get the sheep. Later that night I really didn't feel well at all! :( I was sooooooooooo thirsty!!!!! And my tummy hurt a little too. :( In the morning mom saw I had eaten all those 'roni's and she realized why I didn't feel well. She was real worried but I perked up when we got back to the competition place. Iran and played in the yard. They I had another two turns in the ring, and Dally had 1.

We did GREAT!!!!!!!!!! Mom says these are our scores:

Trial 1, Level 1A, score 195 - 4th place
Trial 2, Level 1A, score PERFECT 210! - 1st place
Trial 3 Level 1A, score 208 - 1st place! This earned me my Rally Level 1 Title!!!!!!!!!!!! And an Award of Excellence for having my first 3 Level 1A scores over 190!
Trial 4 Level 1B, score 208 - 3rd place!
PLUS, they gave me two toys and2 more big ribbons for being the High Scoring Rescue Dog and High Scoring NewTeam!!!!!!!!

We went on a field trip and she got to go into LOWES! Lots of people petted her and mom says she tried to jump on them but mom helped her not to. She wasn't scared of anything! (But mom kept her away from the Halloween Monsters just in case!) Then we both got a new Kong Air Squeaky Tennis Ball! I killed my squeaker on the way home and removed some of the FUZZ, too! Take that, tennis ball!!! Mom says next weekend we get to have a bath! Phooey!

Yup, you guessed it . . . that's my sister snuggling up against me in mom's bed!!! I was just not gonna move for her . . . I didn't really wanna be snuggled up to her really!!!!

That's Cuban Amazon Cypress soaking up the sun in his travel cage . . . he hasn't been able to go out in the aviary since his wing broke so mom takes him out this way. Only 11 more days until all the bandages and pins are removed!!

Dahlia's growing up

Mom rushed home from work today, grabbed me and Dally, and took us to the vet. I stayed in the car (unfair!) and mom took Dally in to weigh her. She was 33.1 pounds! She is 7.5 months old. Mom looked at our records and she doesn't have a weight written down for me at 7.5 months (there might bw one in the computer at the vet but she didn't have a chance to ask them.) But, my weight at 6 months was 35 pounds. Caper's weight at 6 months was 36. Dahlias weight at 6 months was 30 pounds, so mom thinks she's right that Dally will be a wee bit smaller than me. Good thing, since I am her *big* brother!

My little sister graduated from Rally class, she turned 7 months old, her ears went all whichaway and then settled back down. I've been hard at work practicing my jumping! Mom is busy doing tax returns for people who like to give stuff away. The birdies got an aviary makeover! Caper won lots of prizes and medals and ribbons at the DOCNA Champoinships

Cypress update

Hey everyone,
It's me, Arthur, again! My mom wrote that last entry, and she didn't even remember to sign it! How silly of her. Anyway, I am back to my duties. Not sure why she didn't 'et me write last time!

We took the Cuban Amazon birdies on another roadtrip today. It was a long day but Dahlia and I still had some fun playing.

The doctor said that Cypress' surgical site looked good! He got a new bandage and mom took some pics. She wrote on them to try and explain what was happening.

He has to go back in 2 weeks for another bandage change and then again 2 weeks after that for radiographs to see how he is healing.

Cypress is one of the Cuban Amazon Parrots that lives here. This week, he broke his wing and needed to go to Boston for emergency surgery! First, we went to Greylock Animal Hospital to see Dr. Michelle. She was wonderful, but sent on to Boston to see the specialists. The wonderful doctors at Angell Memorial, Dr. Orcutt and Dr. Trout, were able to put pins in his wing and an external fixature to make the bones rejoin and hopefully heal. It seems it is a very longshot that he might ever be able to fly again, but we are still keeping our fingers crossed that it may just happen - you never know!

Here is an except from Dr. Orcutt's report:
"Dr. Trout, one of our surgeons , did an amazing job repairing the fracture while the Avian/Exotics service monitored anesthesia. He placed a pin through the 2 ends pieces of the humerus to align them and further stabilized the bone to prevent rotation on the long axis by placing small pins horizontally through the bone and connecting them with an acrylic bar on the outside of the wing (a KE apparatus). I covered the KE apparatus with a soft padded bandage so that Cypress wouldn't bother it. Post-op radiographs show very good apposition of the boen ends, so now we just have to see how well the bone responds and heals at the fracture site along with assessing the healing of the injured soft tissues as well."

Here are photos of him in his recovery area. It's been changed around a little since these pics were taken but you get the idea. Nothing to climb on so no change to take a fall. A huge variety of foods are being offered to try and encourage him to eat.

In these pics you see dried fruits and nuts. But he's also being offerred scrambled eggs, pellets, corn on the cob, blueberries, fresh veggie mix, sprouts, warm mashes, junk treats, etc.

Here is a video at Angell Memorial when we picked him up. His friend Mulberry came along to give him company for the ride home. They were *thrilled* to see one another!

Today my little sister had her second Rally class! Her teacher took a video with mom's fancy new phone!

Then she got to play with a little Aussie pup called Red! Mom filmed that on her fancy phone too! She calls it a Droid X!

Well, they had all the fun and then mom came home and gave me, Dally, Aunties Sparkle and Firefox, and foster uncle Roosevelt BATHS! Blah. She says we have a photo shoot tomorrow. Like we don't have that every day! Lacy and Saga went to the groomers for their baths, though.

We're all learning Rally!

Hi everybody!
My Auntie Tara gave my mom something called "Motivation" and mom decided we could all be Rally dogs. Rally is like obedience and agility combined. You have a course numbered like agility, but at each number there are directions for a specific thing you have to do.

So, mom set up a little course in our yard of just the most basic signs, and she took us each through, one-by-one. She had GrandPaw video us so she would have a baseline against which to measure our progress!!

I was having lots of fun! Don't you think I'm clever? (I was so excited I had trouble lying down all the way! Opps!)

Lacy is really clever as well. Sometimes she has trouble staying parallel to mom when she isn't along the fence, but she should get better with practice.

Dahlia needs some work on her heeling, but mom says that's her fault 'cause she has to spend some time to teach her! She also needs to work on lying down next to mom.

Caper is pretty good too. Sometimes she's not parallel either, though. Naughty! Mom says she just needs practice.

Finally, is Saga also doing pretty good, for not knowing how to heel, mom says. She has to work on a sign for him to know he's supposed to be following her around. He might need some touch sighs but mom's not sure they are allowed in Rally competition.

Well, hopefully you enjoyed watching us all. We'll see if we can't get mom trained up right and report back!

This weekend we had a lot of fun! Mom loaded up me, Caper, Dahlia, and Bonnie and we headed off down the road for adventure!

We had a fun time at Carter's Pond, it's real close to home and no one else was there. Lots of neat places to explore, that we didn't, so mom says we will go back for sure!

NH Mini-Vacation

My mom packed me and my little sister up for a mini vacation yesterday. We drove to Plymouth, NH, had a very nice campsite and our very own river to swim in! Here's out campsite:

The other day mom took this picture of my silly sister Dahlia. She is obsessed with water (just like me!) and I guess she thought maybe her stuffed Yorkie might also be thirsty so she put him right by the water bucket to take a drink, see:

Yesterday, mom was working in the house and we were outside getting sunshine. Mom snuck up on us and too this photo through the window:

Then she took another clearer photo but I'd already spied her at that point and moved out of position. Mom says these photos are very cute.

Today Dahlia went to the vet for a shot. She weighed 18.2 pounds! She is 13 weeks and 2 days old. She was very excited to go to the vet and wiggled and waggled at everyone, and didn't mind her shot at all.

But the best news is, mom ordered me TWO NEW FRISBEES FROM CLEAN RUN! I can hardly wait for them to arrive!!

But in the meantime, check out my little sister.

First she is all sweet and stretchy in the morning. (Notice I give her a good sniff to be sure she didn't change overnight.)

Next, she throws herself a crate party later in the day while mom has put her in for a nap.

Finally, she plays with a GSD at her puppy play group.

Well, I guess she had quite the full day, now didn't she?! I got to ride along to her play group, though, so that is good! *And I'm getting 2 new FIZZES!*

Today was a GREAT day! First, my mom and my GrandPaw took me, my little sister Dahli-lama, my foster sister Bonnie, my Aunties Sparkle and Firefox and their foster brother Roosevelt to Sugarbush Farm! We had so much fun racing and fetching and swimming there - see!!

After we got home from Sugarbush Farm, the fun didn't end! We got to hand out and play all afternoon with mom and Grand-Paw while they moved the yard around/].

Good News!

I told you I was going to have some good news to share. Dahli-lama has some good news too!

Her good news first! Her brother Moss came to visit. At first, he didn't seem happy to see her at all, and kept fighting with her. Mom had to carefully monitor and make sure everything stayed very calm and redirect when it started to go south. She was finally able to get some good videos of appropriate play, though! Bonnie was a great nanny dog, too.

My good news?!?!?! PEAT GOT ADOPTED AND NOW HE'S GONE, GONE, GONE!

He went home with Mr. Doug, who I don't know but mom says Mr. Doug adopted a dog called Flynn many years ago, and Flynn learned him all up about thunder-phobia. He won't have to use his thunder-phobia lessons with Peat though, all he cares about is playing ball!

Peat has a new brother called Buddy. I say, good riddance Peat! But my mom says she misses the handsome fellow!

Well, that is Dahli-lama and I's news for the day!

Oh! Mom has some good news too! She is all done with school and is officially graduated! Now she has a week's vacation and then she starts her regular job!

The Daily Dahlia Report - Puppy Play Group week 2 and Mom's School Picnic

On Wednesday, Dahlia went to her second week of play group. I got to ride along in th car too! Finally! Mom was late again . . . ! But Dahlia was braver and actually did some puppy play this time, so mom was pleased. She played with the funny looking puppy.

Then, yesterday, my mom took Dahlia to a school picnic. She didn't take me because I wouldn't like to be around all those non-dog people! They wouldn't know not to stare at me. That would be really scary. She says it was great socialization for puppy Dahlia! Dahlia told me she met lots of people and a funny looking dog. He looked like a giant version of the funny looking puppy from her puppy class. At first she was scared of him, then she decided she wanted to play but he wouldn't play with her, and then finally they played together lots.

The Daily Dahlia Report - Puppy Play Group

Today, my Grand-Paw took Dahlia to meet my mom and they all went to a puppy play group! I was left home, which was totally unfair! But mom says I don't like puppies anyway so I should be glad, even though she really missed me. Here are the photos my mom took of Dahlia.

She said that at first Dahlia was a bit taken aback by all those strange dogs. But after a little while, she came out of her shell a bit and was even playing tug with the other puppies. She didn't play with any of them directly yet, but she will probably do so next week, mom thinks!

The worst part of the day was that she brought my foster brother Peat back again - he had gone to stay with my Aunt Katie for a few weeks and now he's back. But mom says a lot of people want him so he ought to be going to a great home soon - I will think it's great as long as it's not here!

The Daily Dahlia Report - Thursday PM

Today my little sister Dahlia ate all her breakfast and lunch, played *fetch* with my Grand-Paw, herded Auntie Firefox, played bitey face with Roosevelt, and ate about half a small mackerel for dinner. Now she is chewing on a bone, and playing with a rattle. Oh, and she likes to pee in my pool! Mom says I can't complain though, 'cause sometimes I pee in it too! Grand-Paw said she slept a lot too, probably because mom kept us all awake real late 'cause she was working on a presentation for school. Mom's super tired and has lots more work to do!

Oh, Dahlis did a funny tonight. She gets spooked by her reflection in the window (even though she liked the mirror) and just a little bit ago she did and she jumped backwards . . . and jumped right off the bed and landed on my dog bed below. Hahaha! Bet that was a surprise!

Now she is playing wildly with the playmobile Auntie Trisha gave the puppies that Anutie Lynn brought over for her!

Today mom was very excited because she said it was Dahlia's first snow! I was excited too because I love snow! Plus mom took me and Dahlia across the street to the cemetery to play! Look how much fun we had!

Yesterday my new little sister Dahlia spent most of the day being babysat at Grandpaw's house - she gets to go there today too, because mom still has a few more long days at school until she is done forever!

Then mom came home and so did Dahlia. I am getting used to her, I guess. This morning she was chasing me outside as I chased my Cuz!!! She played more tug with mom last night and fetched a little too. No accidents in the house, either!

This morning my little sister went pee and poop outside, tried some beginning play with Bonnie the foster dog, did lots of in and out through the picket fence boards(!) and played TUG with mom with a rope toy. Oh, and provided lots of interference with the pooper scooper. At least mom played a bit with me the whole time, though she said I was still broken from yesterday so she didn't let me do a lot.

Today was fun I got to play agility with my Auntie but for some reason now tonight I can barely walk. Mom says Auntie and I are a bad match we didn't know when to stop!

The puppies came on a field trip to *my* house! Well, to my Grand-Paw's yard, at least.

Me, I just ignore them and try to get the silly people to play with me. The puppies make their brains soft and they forget I am the most important one here!!

"I am clicking Arthur here for looking at the puppy. At one point I wait to see if he will sniff, but go back to clicking for looking since he doesn't offer that behavior. On our next session, perhaps he'll be ready to do so. What was very nice is that on a couple of occasions the puppy actually touched him and he didn't pay any attention at all. By using the puppy as the prop for this shaping exercise, I hope to also build a CER to the puppy. (CER = conditioned emotional response. The idea being that Arthur will begin to associate the puppy with fun and good stuff.) We tried to use two puppies but one left. ;)"
